Tracker – The Best Ones

This was a very jam packed season finale for Tracker, you truly had to be glued to the screen for the full 43 minutes in order to not miss any important details. I have been left with many unanswered questions for the upcoming season 4 but that makes me so much more excited to see new episodes in the fall.

I have loved watching the post humorous Ashton storyline, it has been embedded since the first season and I adore that we have a duality of storylines from Colter and Russel. As far as Colter is aware his dad was trying to do the correct thing and save the children but clearly from the information that Russel learns at the end of this episode, maybe everything is not as it seems.

I am incredibly interested to see what Ashton actually did to Colter. Part of me thinks that maybe Colter was a test subject at one point but surely Colter would remember that. I really enjoy the fact that this storyline will continue, especially since this will allow us to see a multitude of different sides to both Colter and Russel. There is also the possibility that nothing was ever done to Colter and it was no more than a ploy to get Russel to work in the shadows because Colter is his weakness.

I’m not overly fond of the idea that Russel and Rene are keeping secrets from Colter, but I do like that we are getting to see more of their dynamic. I genuinely don’t think that they would ever actually get together but their chemistry is electric! It’s always a pleasure to watch them be playful with each other.

I have never not enjoyed an episode where we get to see Russel and Colter be brothers but this honestly might be my favourite one. Their verbal sparring is next level and just brings so much joy to the moments, but they can also flip from that to caring deeply about each other, going as far as saving each other’s lives. Even when Russel was bleeding out he was still verbally sparring with Colter, a moment I really should be worried if Russel was going to die was spent laughing at their bickering.

Russel’s one liners this episode brought some much needed levity to the tense moments. His response to Colter saying he nearly shot him in the face was “that would have been exciting” and when Lola said she can’t see anything and his response was “ “ahhh knew it, I’m over” bought me so much joy. They are always said in the most perfect dead pan way that you can’t help but laugh.

The last two scenes of this episode were so vastly different that it made it all the more interesting for the audience on what is to come for the Shaw brothers. On the one hand we have Russel essentially agree to work for the evil side in order to protect his brother and then on the other we have Keaton and Colter bonding over their childhoods whilst rebuilding a car.

Honestly I was so shocked that Colter actually had a proper place that he could stay for a while, I do wonder if he is starting to think about putting some roots down somewhere. There has been a lot of protecting children and helping locate them this season. Including Lola and Danny, he will have saved ten children or young adults over the course of season 3. A lot of parental advice has been spewed upon him and he even gave some of his own back at the end of episode 14.

It was really nice to see Barbie back in this episode to help everyone properly disappear, I love when we get to see old characters pop in to show that Colter still stays in touch with them. Even if we don’t always see it on screen.

Tracker is statistically one of the best shows currently airing, and with episodes like this you can see why. I am truly so excited to see what is in store next season for Colter and his crew!
