Samsung is now blocking apps that spam your notifications with ads

Samsung’s Device Care app has recently received an update to version 13.8.80.7. This one is notable because it brings with it a new feature that could prove to be very useful to many.
The app can now detect and block apps that appear to be spamming your notification area with ads. The apps that exhibit this behavior will be put in deep sleep to prevent them from bothering you again. Basic blocking uses a list of “apps identified by Samsung as sending frequent ads” and blocks these when they’re detected on your phone.

The intelligent blocking option constantly analyses your notifications to determine if they’re ads and blocks them if they’re frequent. Samsung’s disclaimer says “this determination may not always be accurate”.
Of course you can manually do all of this too – if you notice an app spamming your notifications with ads you can uninstall it right away. But this provides an automated system. Device Care is an app that’s built into One UI so you should have it regardless of which Samsung device you’re using, but the caveat is that this feature has so far only been seen on One UI 8.5, so you may need to be on that version in order to get it. The rollout of the new feature is ongoing and may take a few more days or weeks to finish.
