vivo V40 and V40 Pro, Infinix Note 40X launch, more Pixel 9 leaks, Week 32 in review
Welcome to your week’s recap. vivo unveiled the V40 series with the vanilla and the V40 Pro. Both phones bring 5,500mAh batteries – the biggest in the V series yet. The vivo V40 inherited the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 from the vivo V30, while the vivo V40 Pro made a big leap forward and now has a Dimensity 9200+ chip, which is a lot more powerful than the Dimensity 8200 that powered the previous three vivo V Pro phones.
The vivo V40 and V40 Pro are now on sale in India, adding to the first one’s availability in Europe. The two will then gradually roll to other markets where vivo operates. The V40 starts from INR39,999 in India and €500 in Europe, while the vivo V40 Pro base price is INR54,999.
The Infinix Note 40X 5G launched with Dimensity 6300 and 108MP main camera. The phone is available in Starlit Black, Lime Green, and Palm Blue, starting at INR 13,999 ($167).
There was also a pair of chipset stories – the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which should be unveiled in October, broke cover on Geekbench. Comparing the early results to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 shows a promising 35% boost in single-core performance and 30% in multi-core.
Mediatek officially announced its Helio G100 chipset eight days after the first phone with the platform made its debut – the Tecno Camon 30S Pro. The detailed specs shared by Mediatek reveal that the Helio G100 is virtually identical to the Helio G99 when it comes to CPU and GPU. The most notable change is the added support for 200 MP main cameras.
In the usual Pixel 9 storyline, we got the US prices of the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro Xl – the Pixel 9 Pro will start at $999.99, the Pixel 9 Pro XL will go for $1,199 with 256GB of storage. We also got some specs reiterated.
The XL model is said to have a 6.8″ OLED display with 1,344 x 2,992px up to 3,000 nits of brightness, plus Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.
Finally, the Huawei nova Flip is official for China with a 6.94-inch LTPO OLED, and a 4,400mAh battery. The Honor V3 is going global in Red, Green, and Black. Finally, the Galaxy A35 and A55 will get Galaxy AI.
