32-year-old man arrested after attempted carjacking following alleged robbery of business, Greensboro police say

A man was arrested after he allegedly robbed a business and then attempted to carjack someone to get away, according to officers with the Greensboro Police Department.On Thursday, police said two officers responded to the 2000 block of East Wendover Avenue regarding the robbery of a business. The responding officers said they quickly identified the suspect but when they attempted to apprehend him, he ran away. A man was arrested after he allegedly robbed a business and then attempted to carjack someone to get away, according to officers with the Greensboro Police Department.

On Thursday, police said two officers responded to the 2000 block of East Wendover Avenue regarding the robbery of a business. The responding officers said they quickly identified the suspect but when they attempted to apprehend him, he ran away.

A chase of the suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Zakaria Majak, occurred leading to him unsuccessfully attempting to carjack someone, according to police.

Majak was charged with the following:

  • Robbery with firearms or other dangerous weapons
  • Felon possessing a firearm.

He has a $500,000 bond and is due in court on Monday.

As for the two officers, police said they stayed on duty for a total of 15 hours straight to help close out the case.
